Sunday School

 Message From Our CE Committee

There have been many changes over the years, most notably, seven years ago, we began our one-of-a-kind approach to teaching Church School, which we call ‘Living the Promise.’  As you may know, the essence of ‘Living the Promise’ is creativity, every-member participation, and hands-on learning. In this regard, we have done some amazing things, including geo-caching, baking, hiking, drumming, theater and so much more!

Our theme this year is ‘Welcome to the Family’. Our symbol will be the family tree. During our first unit, we will by exploring our individual family trees, discovering our heritage, and telling a story about our families. From there, we will explore Jesus’ family tree: The Jesse Tree, named from Isaiah 11:1: “A shoot will spring forth from the stump of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots.”  As we climb each branch of the tree, we learn to tell the Story of God in the Old and New Testaments, and connect with the faithfulness of God across 4,000 years of history.
All in the Family
The tree branch is a biblical sign of newness out of discouragement, which became a way to talk about the expected messiah (for example, Jer 23:5). It is therefore an appropriate symbol of Jesus, who is the revelation of the grace and faithfulness of God.

K-6 Sunday education starts after the Children’s time in church.

We adhere to a Safe Space policy and use an every member teaching program that we call “Living the Promise.”

Join us at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays as we explore what it means to be part of one world family! Children in Grades K-6 are welcome! Teen helpers are always appreciated
In 2016, we lost our beloved Church School Superintendent, Laura Tucker
. Everything we do for our children, every act of care and creativity, we dedicate to her in loving memory of the spirit she brought to her work as a teacher, a woman of faith, and lover of children.
