Dunbarton Community Food Pantry

The Dunbarton Congregational Church maintains a Food Pantry open to Dunbarton residents. It is located on the second floor of the Vestry building, complete with non-perishable food items, paper products, cleaning supplies and toiletries. Call 774-4601 for an appointment.

The Missions Committee also administers the Dunbarton Community Assistance Fund, which grants Dunbarton residents one-time  assistance with utilities bills and unexpected critical need.

DCC Roadside Clean-up

We do roadside clean-up multiple times each year (starting sometime in April) to keep the area a mile on either side of Dunbarton center beautiful. Would you like to be notified when the next cleanup takes place? Call and leave a message at 774-4601 and a member of the Missions Committee will contact you.

Cafe Monte Alto

We continue to sell coffee from Café Monte Alto as a Missions Board fundraiser.   The coffee is displayed for sale in the narthex of the sanctuary and at Curios on the Common Thrift Store. By purchasing coffee from Café Monte Alto, we are supporting fair trade, an environmentally and socially responsible company and a local Plymouth, New Hampshire-based business. Café Monte Alto, in turn, donates 10% of sales to COOPERU, a non-profit that helps coffee farmers and their families through programs such as the renovation and expansion of a local school and medical post. We are happy to be able to support them while also providing an income for our Mission’s Account.

Ongoing Community Outreach

Besides the Food Pantry, Community Asistance Fund and Roadside Clean-up, the Missions Committee puts together Easter and Thanksgiving baskets for those in need in our community, organizes a “Secret Elf” drive for Christmas presents for children in the community whose parents need extra halp at Christmas time, and sponsors a flu vaccination clinic give by the Concord VNA each year.

Creation Justice and Environmental Advocacy: Earth Day Every Day

DCC  is working toward a new environmental justice initiative.  The Missions Committee is continuing to disseminate information on environmental concerns and calls to action through the church weekly email, this web site, and the Missions bulletin board in the narthex.

We have, in the recent past, invited speakers to lecture on envronmetal issues, hosted movie nights spotlighting issues of envirnmental justice,  handed out reusable bags and straws to the community, and promoted our relationship with Fresh Start Farms.

Fresh Start Farms NH is a collective brand for immigrant and refugee farmers participating in the New American Sustainable Agriculture Program, a program of the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success.
