Jesus practiced an “Open Table” fellowship, welcoming everyone into his presence including the sick, the poor and the outcast, even women and children. On June 27, 2020, our church became a United Church of Christ Open and Affirming church, committing to Jesus’ Open Table, welcoming all who enter our presence.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you should love one another.” John 13:34
Affirming that we are all created in God’s image and equally loved by God, we commit ourselves to striving to build a community of faith with opportunities to know God that transcends differences by offering justice, healing and wholeness of life for all people. We welcome into the full life and ministry of this church individuals and families of all varieties, whether single, married, partnered, separated or divorced; whatever flesh tone God has assigned you; whatever your physical or cognitive abilities; whether you have a bank roll or no spare change; wherever you are on God’s spectrum of sexuality; whether you love a woman, a man, or someone who prefers gender neutral pronouns; whether or not your gender identity matches your birth gender; whatever your stage of life, from newborn to blessed with age; whether you believe in God, you’re not sure God is real, or if you seek to know God better; whether you speak Japanese, Swahili or any language on earth.
